The biggest dilemma that I face before going out somewhere is what I should do with my hair. Leave it open? Or tie it up? When it comes to hairstyles, my skills are limited to the good old ponytail or a simple braid. Even though my hair has considerable length, I am always in a fix while deciding how to style it.
To get out of this slump, I decided to look up some quick and easy hairstyles for the long, beautiful tresses. Read on to find out more!
1. French braid
A variation of the traditional braid, the french braid may look complicated, but is actually quite easy and can be done on your own. You start off with a traditional braid, and then keep adding sections of hair into the strand so that the end result looks intricate.
2. Fishtail braid
One of my favourite hairstyles, the fishtail braid is a more intricate variation of the classic braid. It looks even more beautiful if you have really long hair. Don’t worry if you find it intimidating at first-all you need is a little patience and practice to master it. Follow the steps in the tutorial below to master this hairstyle.
3. Knotted ponytail
There are days when you just don’t feel like doing anything fancy with your hair. But you don’t wanna end up looking like a plain Jane in a ponytail either. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Try this super-easy hairstyle by knotting your hair and tying it into a ponytail. It looks complicated, but is actually very simple. All you have to do is use a generous amount of hair styling mousse so that your hair is manageable.
4. Twisted bun–
Tired of the plain, old bun? Give it a twist by twisting it, quite literally 😉 . It’s perfect for the hot, humid weather when you want all your hair away from your face and neck.
5. Braided ponytail–
braid? Or ponytail? When in doubt, go for both!
6. The weaved low ponytail–
another easy way by which you can dress up your basic ponytail is by weaving some hair into it. Follow the steps in the image below to get the adorable hairdo.
7. Bubble ponytail-
Remember Jasmine, from Aladdin? Her segmented ponytail, also known as “the bubble ponytail” or “Jasmine hairstyle” is extremely easy to make, and gives an interesting touch to the passé ponytail. Start with a basic ponytail first, then keep adding bands at a distance of 2-3 inches [as per your choice] to create “segments” in the pony.
8. Milkmaid braid-
This gorgeous, vintage hairstyle may seem complicated at first, but is actually quite easy to make. All you need is- a few bobby pins and the ability to make pigtail braids with your hair.
9. Slicked back ponytail–
A plain ponytail may seem boring, but you can turn it into a high-fashion worthy hairstyle with a sexy, sleek ponytail. Make sure you’ve gathered all your hair into the ponytail, and use a hair-gel serum to hold it all in place to get the perfect sleek look. Once you’ve tied the ponytail, take a small section of hair from underneath it and wrap it around the hair-tie to conceal its appearance.
Depending on the occasion, you can add some drama to your hair with a pouf. There are numerous variations of this style too that you can choose from. You can have it with a ponytail, braid, or with your hair open-the choice is yours. But always remember one thing- never go overboard with the pouf. Else you’ll end up looking like you have a tower on your head!
