Celebrity weddings are always kind of a big deal. And when the celebrity in question is Masaba Gupta, one of India’s most famous and influential young fashion designers, it goes without saying that it’ll be nothing short of a star-studded affair.
The designer tied the knot with producer Madhu Mantena last month. The lavish three-day long ceremony was attended by a bunch of celebrities from the tinsel town. Needless to say, they added immensely to fashion quotient of the soirée. Here’s a low-down on some of the best looks from the event.
1. The bride’s outfits:
Masaba truly personifies ‘thinking outside the box’. While we are familiar with her trademark quirky prints, which we all LOVE, her wedding outfits too reflected the fact that Masaba doesn’t do cliché. Have a look!
For her bridal shower, Masaba designed a fuss-free ensemble herself, which consisted of an off-shoulder, black-and-white polka-dotted cropped top with a ruffle overlay. She paired it with black trousers and tan heels. Masaba kept her accessories minimal, wearing only a Nirav Modi diamond brocade necklace.
People rarely wear white to a mehendi function, but Masaba looked radiant in a white and gold long kurta and lehenga, again designed by the bride herself! A pair of big earrings, and what looks like flash tattoos in place of bangles, finished her look.
The sangeet outfit consisted of an exquisite pink lehenga by Sanjay Garg. However, straying from the OTT lehengas that brides tend to wear, hers was simple yet elegant. I love the way she draped the dupatta casually over her shoulders.
For her reception, Masaba chose a cream colored lehenga and cape-style choli by Anamika Khanna. A beautiful kundan choker necklace finished her look. My only gripe was the weirdly placed embellishment on the choli. Nevertheless, she carried it off pretty well.
Moving on to the guests, there were some really exquisite outfits that gave us tons of inspiration for the wedding season.
2. Mira Rajput:
The newest bahu on the block attended all the events, and looked quite stunning in all her outfits. For the bridal shower, she wore a lace Self-Portrait midi dress. A side ponytail, a cute Pout Sling Bag and white ankle-strap sandals finished her look.
At the mehendi ceremony, she was seen in a beige Madsam Tinzin lehenga with a floor length kurta and printed dupatta. She accessorized it with earrings by Radhika Agarwal, and a clutch.
Mira also performed at the sangeet wearing a lehenga by Anamika Khanna.
Mira looked absolutely gorgeous in a sheer saree by Arpita Mehta, which she wore to the reception. A statement necklace and a gold clutch completed her look.
3. Alia Bhatt:
At the sangeet ceremony, Alia wore a blue and purple lehenga by Manish Malhotra. Her trademark cutesy braid and a maang-tika finished her look. While I’m not too keen on the choli, or its fit, the lehenga looked beautiful!
Wearing a gorgeous white Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga with a dash of red and pink, and Amrapali earrings, Alia attended the wedding reception.
4. Sonam Kapoor:
Sonam Kapoor attended the celebrations wearing Anamika Khanna outfits. For the sangeet, she wore a black embroidered saree.
For the reception, she wore a cream and gold outfit, and finished her look with a kundan choker, gold earrings and a potli bag.
5. Kangana Ranaut:
Kangana looked gorgeous in a mint Sabyasachi lehenga at the sangeet. She kept her make-up and accessories minimal, wearing berry lips and a pair of earrings.
For the reception, she wore a white Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla saree, and accessorized it with a silver minaudière. Wavy hair and red lips completed her look.
6. Neha Dhupia:
Neha attended the reception wearing a lehenga by Natasha J, paired with jewellery from Amrapali and Curio Cottage, and a Pinky Saraf clutch. She kept her hair simple, with just a sleek updo. I love the breezy vibe of the outfit!
7. Aditi Rao Hyadri:
Aditi opted to go for a Indo-western fusion look, wearing a black Surendri lehenga with a belted top. Gorgeous chaandbaali earrings from Mahesh Notandass, an Amrapali hand harness and bright red lips completed her look. She looked stunning.
8. Dia Mirza: Dia Mirza looked gorgeous in a pink and gold Sabyasachi sharara, which she wore with gold-toned jewellery and an elegant updo.
