Good Riddance, Dark Circles!

Woman Holding Cucumber Slices over Eyes

No matter how lotus-like or fish-like your eyes look, or no matter how much you put on eye make up; if you have dark circles, there’s no way of ignoring them and saying just let them be there. Dark circles are one of the things that trouble both men and women in today’s world. They may be caused due to stress or lack of sleep. Now, don’t those dark circles make you look really aged in your completely fad selfies? Do they make people ask you everyday if you slept well? Do you get ‘feel sorry for you look’ from your fellow mates?

Well, I’ve got a few solutions for you to try out!

1. Dal and Cucumber Wonder

urad dal and cucumber

Urad dal (also known as black gram) bleaches your skin and nourishes it. Additionally, it also helps your skin glow. Cucumber has subtle, mild skin lightening effects and also revitalizes the skin. This is why most skin creams and packs contain cucumber and also the reason we keep cucumber slices on our eyes in the parlor. Soak half a teaspoon of urad dal(the one we use in idlis, vadas and papads!) for about an hour and finely grind it. Add two slices of cucumber to this and make into a paste. Apply this around your eyes and wash off after 3 minutes. You can do this every day and lo-and-behold, your dark circles will disappear in a few days.

2. Gorgeousness of Grape fruit

To prevent dark circles from appearing, and to do away with very light circles, cut a grape fruit into half and rub it under your eyes. Wash off after 10 minutes.

3. Sensuous Sandalwood

Sandalwood

Sandalwood has skin lightening effects and is also easy to use and fragrant. Take sandalwood powder and rose water and mix them together.  Apply this paste on your eyes before you go to sleep as it helps cool down your eyes.

4. Lightening Lemon With A Twist Of Tomato

Lemon has Vitamin C and also skin lightening properties and tomato has bleaching properties. Take lemon extract and tomato extract in equal amounts. Mix them together. If you put this on your eyes for twice every day, your dark circles are sure to get reduced.

5. Essential Oils

almond oil

Almond oil and Vitamin E oil are also great natural ingredients that are very beneficial for the delicate skin around your eyes. Apply a little of either one of those on your eyes before you go to sleep. Leave it on overnight and wash it off the next morning with cold water. It will make dark circles fade away.

6. Rejuvenating Rose Water

Rose water rejuvenates the skin and soothes tired skin. Soak cotton pads in rose water for a few minutes and keep them on your eyes. Remove them after 15 minutes. You can do this twice every day.

One of the main reasons for the recurrence of dark circles under eyes is because of stress, depression and a hectic lifestyle. Above all this, no amount of home remedies will work if your mind isn’t cool and calm. Yoga and meditation too, if practiced regularly, will not only decrease your dark circles but also balance the body clock whilst calming your mind, body and soul.

Here’s wishing you happy eyes!
