Summer is upon us and we are ready to beat the heat “runway-inspired”. This season was all about ready-to-wear monochromatic,light-airy fabrics with an array of curious patterns, frills, lace and such interesting color combos that you can’t help but be attracted to.From Ralph Lauren’s cargo pants to the ultra-feminine flamenco tone of D&G, we start a countdown of the best looks from the New York, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks.
1.Michael Kors
The Michael Kors Spring/Summer Collection was highlighted by a very feminine and laid-back chic look with playful patterns, fabrics and what not. It started off with the all-white lacy Peter pan-collared dress, knit sweater with culottes, and flared skirts. Interesting contrasts with floral patterns and appliqués, thin leather belts and the sassy slits. These gave way to more blooming colors in yellows, bright pinks, muted greens and different shades of blues. There was an array of colorfully floral, sweeping skirts with transparent inserts topped with tweeds and loose tops and the tea-length floral dresses. Apart from the femme looks, the collection had its fair share of shorts suits, gingham-patterned coats, jumpsuits, A-line dresses in black and also, a très chic mustard yellow coat.
The Collection is uber-chic and we can imagine walking down the summery streets in these.

2.Chloe
The boho-chic yet sophisticated look of this collection won our hearts. Light, strappy short dresses, buttoned down dress, floor-sweeping skirts in floral patterns from black and white to mustard, navy blue and greens. It featured denim skirts, loose, flowy dresses with deep necks, jumpsuits, zip-up tweed blazers and some slip dresses too. The whole collection presented interesting fabrics and motifs: laser-cuts, white crochet, chiffon, silks, lots of frills, layerings and pleatings, chain motifs and the spectacular metal eyelet fabric dresses. The designs were accompanied by strappy sandals and minimalistic makeup, giving it a soothing and airy feel.

3.Ralph Lauren
The Ralph Lauren collection captured summer with the brightest yellows, purples and pinks. Most eye-catching were the unusual color combinations of solid colors contrasted with beige neutrals.Highlights are the royal purple one-shoulder top with beige cropped slacks, organza fabric button down jackets, sheath dresses in green with gold dusting fabrics, jodhpurs and the one shoulder tulle gowns.
However,we didn’t miss out the very feminine power suits with cinched-in waist, peplum jackets and the quirky lemony yellow overcoat and yep! the fedoras too.

4.Donna Karan
Crop tops rules! is what we deciphered from DK’s collection with Crop tops and pleated skirts, kimono jackets, midi skirts, gored skirts and over-the-top hats.Monochromes, puffed sleeves,mermaid-tailed gowns, bare mid-riffs(seductive) and the artistic prints, everything whispered quirky yet elegance. The curious prints and patterns were basically pop-art with moody, sombre touches giving a retro-artistic vibe.

5.Diane Von Furstenberg
This season, the collection was very girly and artistically, very interesting with nature-inspired prints, mainly flora on maxis and dresses that ranged from A-line skirts to side-wrap airy skirts.Giving the Crop tops a run for its money were, the easy-to wear bra tops coupled with high- waisted pants, high slit dresses and the tailored shorts.Among the fabrics and patterns, the lace work over the tops, mirror works ,the wide brushstrokes of pinks and reds over a white fabric backdrop and the gingham patterns caught our attention.

6.Christian Dior
Cool tones .Minimalistic .Miniscule prints.Perfect! This delicate Dior collection gave us so many interesting pieces to wonder at.I mean, crop tops and parachute skirts adorned with these petite floral designs,night-gown inspired lacy, flowy dresses, sooo fairytale-like.There were these long sweeping ,shimmery 18th-century court coats in wine red, magentas over bermuda shorts, lacy tops, and some asymmetrical dresses in dark brown leather that were totally innovative and stylish.Dior’s subtle prints,no overbearing colors and monochrome-on-solids mantra is what we gotta follow.

7.Dolce & Gabbana
We agree that there is something very romantic about Sicily but we can’t exactly pin that down.D & G showcased the Spanish influence on Sicilian culture with this very romantic and breathtaking collection that was both vintage and modern.Flamenco- inspired frilly gowns with gypsy motifs, high waisted super shorts, bejewelled tops and denims, poncho dresses, brocade jackets that reminded us of the Spanish bullfighting ,took us back to that famed land. The intricate patterns, floral prints, dark red and black swirling designs, those flamenco-ish ruffles,mesh,see-through were to die for.And who would forget the iconic red of the Mediterranean which was omnipresent in the collection.Finalmente, the polka dot pattern of the retro era with blooming, red carnations totally stole the show.

8.Missoni
The rainbow bands color arrangement in this collection was truly unique. These artistic and solid tones gave the whole design, a bohemian feel.Of interest were the coat dresses,palazzos,bathrobe-type coats in pastel shades,wide-sleeved loose tops and the floor- length shirts. The shapes were really catchy ,basically asymmetrics with oversized shirts.Sprinkled overall were see-through patterns, laser cuts, violets, greens and the dominating ombre patterns over A-line pieces. The whole attire was finished with a cherry -on- top i.e. the silky,floral-patterned turbans.

We saw monochromes and bold colours which were contrasted with neutrals in almost every show, enjoying such eye-catching designs and now,we can’t wait for the next seasons to fall in.
