Every year there are a bunch of bizarre fashion trends that creep upon us and before we know it, too many people are trying it out leaving us in an utter state of dilemma whether or not to try it out on ourselves. Here are some of the trends that we left behind in 2015 and pray that they don’t come following us back at any point in 2016.
1. Kylie Jenner Lips
Remember when Kylie Jenner of the Kardashian’s fame got fuller lips and a very sensuous pout with the help of lip filler injections and the internet world went crazy to try out DIY methods of getting the same results; using small-mouthed jars and fixing it on your lips to create a vacuum suction. It turned out alright for some people, but for most of the crowd that tried it, it looked like they had been stung by bees on their lips. We really, really hope that no one is still trying to get full lips using that method in 2016.
2. Man buns
Man buns looked great on men, if you were Ranvir Singh, Jared Leto or Harry Styles. Else not everyone was lucky enough to go around styling in them getting words of appraisal from their friends or families. Man buns were a great thing to try out in the previous year, but quite honestly, all our celebrity motivations have moved on from this style and so should we. With the launch of clip-on man buns in the market, we’ve been begging for mercy and place man buns at #2 in the list of fashion trends that we hope don’t make a reappearance this year.
3. Straitjacket sleeves
Off shoulders was one thing, but straitjacket sleeves made your long arms only as good as the short arms of T-Rex in terms of mobility. It was glamorous and classy until they got out of hands (pun intended). They were uncomfortable and restricted arm movement beyond imagination and we just hope that they don’t become a fashion trend in 2016.
Normcore simply meant “normal” and “hardcore” but in the process of trying to dress up like you aren’t trying to dress up at all, something of a wardrobe disaster happened where we found ourselves paying extra money to look like we didn’t own stylish clothes at all. Then, Kanye West, the king of rapping and normcore collaborated with adidas to give us one the priciest ranging of clothing named “Yeezy” and people purchased that because they were so carried away into believing that they are “comfortable”. They might be light on our bodies, but were certainly very, very heavy on our pockets.
5. 3D Nail Art on talons
Pointy nails with 3D nail art are a nightmare in 2016 and even the thought of sporting them shouldn’t be welcome in 2016. Women, you have beautiful hands, and while we don’t blame you to want to look femme fatale, having eagle-like talons isn’t the answer. If you can you pull this off, you’re very likely to claw yourself or your friend’s at some point in the time period when you are trying out this trend. Even worse, you cannot pull off the sharp nails and hurt somebody too. We want neither of that to happen and hence we pray, hope and recommend to never bring back this fashion trend into 2016.
